Flu Shots

Flu Vaccinations

Flu season, also known as influenza season, starts in the Fall and continues into Spring every year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone over the age of 6 months get the yearly flu shot to prevent influenza or experience less severe flu symptoms.

Due to the current public health emergency surrounding COVID-19, it is more important than ever to avoid the flu. Fewer people with the flu will help reduce the burden on our local health care providers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The primary care locations listed below are offering flu vaccination clinics available at the times posted. Save time and book your vaccination by clicking on the link provided at your desired location. Due to the size of demand, flu shots will only be offered for existing patients.

Memory Testing Options

Cognitive and neuropsychological tests measure memory, language skills, math skills, visual and spatial skills, and other abilities related to mental functioning to help diagnose a patient’s condition accurately. For example, people with Alzheimer’s disease often show changes in so-called executive functions (such as problem-solving), memory, and the ability to perform once-automatic tasks.

Detailed neuropsychological testing is time-consuming and requires special training, and it usually occurs during a separate appointment with a neuropsychologist. However, during a regular neurology doctor visit, tests such as the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) or Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) provide a quick way to assess cognitive skills in people with suspected deficits.

These tests examine orientation, memory, and attention, as well as the ability to name objects, follow verbal and written commands, and copy a complex shape. Doctors also use a variety of other tests and rating scales to identify specific types of cognitive problems and abilities.

Same Day Office Visits At Your Fingertips

As a skilled family medicine physician, Dr. Phillips and her team of providers are highly experienced in handling a broad range of injuries, illnesses, and common medical conditions;  they understand the concerns parents have when children incur a minor injury.

From minor cuts to flu shots and mono tests to skin biopsies, they are ready to perform procedures, saving patients from an ER or walk-in clinic visit.

Emergency room visits usually result in a wait time of more than seven hours. For someone who is sick or hurt, that’s a long time to wait. Fortunately, Dr. Phillips Medical Wellness Center has a solution for non-routine medical needs that do not require a visit to the emergency room. The expert physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and medical professionals at our office are available to treat you with the convenience of walk-in appointments, minimal waiting, and lower costs than an emergency room.

Telemedicine Visits

In addition to our walk-ins and scheduled appointments, Dr. Phillips Medical Wellness Center is happy to now offer virtual visits. No matter where you are, your provider can help you with a variety of care needs. All you need is an internet connection and a device with a video camera and microphone, such as a tablet or smartphone.

We offer a medically assisted weight loss program that we call “The Zone” to help patients looking for the tools, knowledge, and support needed to achieve and maintain weight loss for life. Dr. Phillips created this customized weight loss program with the understanding that food is a powerful drug and it can cause serious illness if misused. Developed alongside dietitians and nutritionists – her program aims to help patients regulate hormone levels by balancing what they eat to achieve significant weight loss that can realistically be maintained for a lifetime.

If you are looking to improve your overall health by reaching a weight loss goal we encourage you to talk to us about “The Zone,” our medically supervised and customized weight loss program today!

Patients who progress through step three of the program typically enjoy benefits including but not limited to:

  • Reduced symptoms of chronic illnesses
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Reduced risk for the development of diseases
  • Improved emotional stability

Dr. Phillips’ weight loss program is customized for each person in the program and generally includes:

An Initial Visit

Step One

Step one includes weekly visits where patients’ overall health is monitored, additional supplemental injections are applied, additional measurements are taken or medication is adjusted. Step one is when patients achieve their weight loss goals.

Step Two

Once weight loss goals are reached in step one, step two aims to control weight with diet modification, stepping down medications, and keeping track of measurements.

Step Three

Step three visits are monthly and, similar to step two, focus on keeping health measurements and staying in “The Zone.”

BMI Calculator

Body mass index (BMI) is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. BMI is an inexpensive and easy screening method for weight category—underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obesity.

BMI does not measure body fat directly, but BMI is moderately correlated with more direct measures of body fat. Furthermore, BMI appears to be as strongly correlated with various metabolic and disease outcomes as are these more direct measures of body fatness.

BMI weight ranges:

  • Less than 18.5 = Underweight
  • Between 18.5 – 24.9 = Healthy Weight
  • Between 25 – 29.9 = Overweight
  • Over 30 = Obese

If your results are over 30, please Make An Appointment with us today to talk about your weight control options.
